I spent 10 days this spring in Rome and Florence touring the sites with my mother. She had been in Rome before, but 40 years ago (!), and I had been in Florence once about 6 years ago, so we decided to rediscover the cities together.

When I was planning this trip a year ago, I struggled to find information for travelers who didn't want to go on a guided tour. Turns out there are myriad bus trips, cooking trips, hiking and biking trips, and budget trips on huge buses--but nothing for people who just wanted help planning an independent trip. I started this wiki so people who are planning a trip to Italy and those who have been there already can meet and share ideas, tips, and more!
